Why do celebrities and other rich people do this?

I am NOT AGAINST rich people spending their money to buy expensive clothes and shoes, I would do the same. What I never understood was why a lot of them will pay $5,000 a pair of pure Italian leather heels and only wear them once? Why do most celebrities wear their thousand-dollar outfits only once?
